Use case 05 / 05 · Portfolio & operator intelligence

Who are the big operators, and what can we read off them?

Every asset carries a pseudonymous operator ID. By clustering all assets per ID we reconstruct portfolios and rank the professional operators. Here are the largest solar portfolios in Germany, straight from the data.

How to read #1: 5,665 solar systems, 146.3 MWp, average 25.8 kWp, spread across 15 of 16 states, operating since 1999. That profile is unmistakably a national IPP / portfolio operator, not a homeowner. The next tier (ABR…9682: 1,637 assets across 16 states) looks like a fast-growing aggregator (first asset 2017).

What you can pull per operator

  • • Full asset list: count, total & average capacity, technology mix
  • • Geographic footprint (states, districts, coordinates)
  • • Vintage & Ü20 exposure (first/last commissioning year)
  • • Fleet changes over time (acquisitions via operator-change records)
  • Enrichment: resolve the pseudonymous ID to the company via commercial-register matching (for organisation operators)

What this enables

  • Build a target list of professional operators (21+ assets) for O&M, financing or acquisition
  • Value & benchmark a portfolio before an M&A / due-diligence process
  • Spot fast-growing aggregators early by tracking fleet growth
  • Concentration & risk analysis (assets per grid operator / region)
